VOLUNTEERS MUST BE:  At least sixteen (16) years old or twelve (12) or older if accompanied by parent or guardian. Because the animals depend on our services we ask that volunteers commit to providing at least 4 hours of service per month.  Our volunteers should be positive and willing team members as all volunteer positions may work directly with the public, staff, and other volunteers.

We couldn't do it without you and hope that you will become involved in activities, events and programs to serve the animals who share our journey!

VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT:

Monthly or Quarterly Stories and Photos will be posted here.

JOIN THE “FRIENDS OF FERALS” and help reduce the feral cat population:

Friends of Ferals (FF) is a branch of Humane Society of Central Arizona which is dedicated to reducing the number of unwanted feral cats that are rounded up and destroyed each year in shelters and animal control facilities. We follow the simple and effective method called Trap-Neuter-Return. Call “Friends of Ferals" at (928) 474-5590.

HELP OUT AT AN ADOPTION EVENT -- the more people present, the more animals we can bring to be adopted!

WORK WITH ANIMALS -- socialize by walking & petting dogs, grooming, and caring for cats and kittens.

SHELTER ASSISTANT -- do laundry, greet the public, help with housekeeping, recycle can crushing, etc.

OFFICE ASSISTANCE -- at the shelter with data entry, telephones, etc.

PHOTOGRAPHY -- snap candid shots of the beautiful cats and dogs at the Shelter.    Photos are used on our website, Pet Finders, local newspaper ads, etc.

BECOME A FOSTER PARENT -- for an animal. We often need temporary foster homes for kittens and puppies. We also seek foster homes for injured animals while they heal.

Foster Families are needed for:

  • Mama cats with kittens too young to be placed for adoption.

  • Kittens without a mother cat who are in need of bottle feeding. (we supply kitten formula).

  • Kittens who are beyond bottle feeding, but still need several weeks in a home before they are old enough to be put up for adoption.

  • Very young puppies with or without the mama dog.

  • Adult dogs who need socializing. Sometimes these animals are just cage-shy. Other dogs become depressed from being at the shelter and they stop eating. They need lots of TLC!
